As a registered charity The Windmill Preschool is managed by a committee of parents. The word "committee" can sound off-putting, but we are really just a group of parents with a little time to give to preschool. It’s not a huge commitment and we do have a lot of fun.
We meet roughly once a term to plan fundraising events, keep an eye on the budget and ensure that the needs of all children and staff are being met.
We aim to raise around £2,000 each year for preschool funds. Last year we raised approx. £2,245 which was a fantastic effort. With fees and funding only just covering the essentials such as wages and rent, this money is vital to pay for new toys and equipment, the summer outing, book bags for children going to school, the christmas party, and more. Our major fundraiser of the year is the annual Christmas bazaar, but we try all sorts of other things too, from cake stalls and car boot sales to sponsored fancy-dress walks. If you have any bright ideas we would love to hear them!
Our planned events so far are:
Christmas Bazaar - Sunday 3rd December 2017, from 2 to 4pm
Bedtime Story Evening - February 2018 - Date and Time to be agreed
Easter Treasure Hunt - Saturday 24th March 2018
Car Boot Sale - Sunday 8th July 2018
Joining the committee is a great way to get more involved in preschool life. You'll get to know the staff better and meet other parents. You'll also gain a real insight into what goes on behind the scenes, as well as the opportunity to have a genuine impact on your child’s early years education.
